Redwood Cabins Nestled Along the Salmon River in the Sawtooth Wilderness
Stanley lies in a high mountain basin, 6200' elevation, in the heart of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. We are surrounded by mountains: the Sawtooths, White Clouds, Pioneer, and Boulder Ranges. Mid-summer temperatures vary widely, from lows near 30° to highs of 85°.
Our famous Salmon River, the "River of No Return", is home to trout and several salmon species, all now threatened by the effects of downstream dams. Although salmon fishing is not permitted, we have excellent trout fishing from Memorial Day until October... right in our own backyard!
Within 2 miles of our Redfish Lake lodging you'll find grocery stores, tackle/equipment shops, clothing, service stations, the Forest Service Ranger Station, and a half-dozen restaurants. Redfish Lake is 5 miles away, Stanley Lake is 8 miles.
Stanley is the gateway to the largest wilderness in the USA, outside of Alaska. The Sawtooth Wilderness, and the Frank Church "River of No Return" Wilderness are our playgrounds, preserved for fish, wildlife, and amazing scenic beauty. Our pristine rivers, meadows, and mountains offer unsurpassed recreational opportunities for those who love the outdoors.
